Like others have said, tow capacity is not usually a problem. But take a close look at your truck's payload and compare that to the trailer's loaded tongue weight and whatever else you want to put in the truck.
I had a 2009 Tacoma with 1050# payload. Pulling my 4000# trailer, the truck was consistently overloaded (exceeded the payload and GVWR) by 300-500#. The truck had 2-3 people, a Leer cap with two kayaks and a lot of other stuff in the bed as well as the trailer's loaded tongue weight eating up that 1050#.
As I don't like over-loading my truck, we sold it after a year.
In terms of power, that V6 was fine except when crossing the prairies against a head wind. It would sometimes have to drop to 3rd gear and rev up to get the torque needed. Things could get pretty noisy in the cab.
