As I am sure some have seen my posts on mice prevention and how those gimmick solutions do not work. I have always maintained that they only way to prevent mice is to seal up the trailer.So after parking my trailer where I have gotten at least one mouse every year for that last two within a month(while using PURE peppermint, dry sheets, moth balls and cab fresh), I was cleaning where my low point drain is in a plastic container in the floor. As I felt under the lip with my cleaning rag, I could feel that the plumbing came into the trailer from outside in a hole that was about 1" bigger than the plumbing.I got some mice prevent spray foam and a mirror to spray the hole sealed all around the plumbing.I checked on the trailer this past weekend and for the first time in two years, the traps are empty and I do not have a mouse yet(trailer has been there since mid October)Anyway, point is if you get mice, they are getting in from somewhere, and that somewhere isn't always visible.

I agree,yet fresh cab and oil works for me.and my boat sits in a open pole bldg.

Seems obvious to me that the first step in preventing mouse intrusion into one's camper is to seal all potential entry points. As a secondary precaution I keep a couple of Fresh Cab Rodent Repellent Packs in the camper year 'round and haven't had any issues at all. :B

You're pretty thorough SoundGuy. I am pretty certain that your probably sealed up your camper pretty good!

OP, I could not agree more. When you seal up the entry points, you stop the meeces. Even regular spray foam will do it. I've done this on 4 RVs, and it worked every time. However, one fiver's slideout systems were not really seal-able. That was a challenge. I made up magnetic removable sheet metal covers for the under-slide openings.

Two of them were purchased new. one of the first things I do when i get it home, is crawl underneath the entire trailer and fill any hole I see, no matter how big or small, with Great Stuff expanding foam. I also store with drawers and cupboards open (mice prefer to build their nests hidden, not exposed) and I go crazy with dryer sheets on the inside. Not sure if it works, or the place I store it doesn't have a mouse problem. I don't really care, because either way, they're not living in my trailer.

I'm for dryer sheets they're the only thing that has ever worked in my shed I have never had any trouble with my TT but in my shed I've tried 110v sonic rodent and roach repellants I even had two black snakes take up residents in there one year, heck one day I saw the snakes mating under my utility trailer so I know they had to have worked up an appetite but when they finally left the mice were still there, so I put a trap out I never saw that trap again. Anybody remember Mighty Mouse darn maybe that was what was living in my shed. Anyway Dryer sheets seem too be the only thing that keeps them off of my equiptment, you just can't forget to change the sheets about every month or they will use the sheets for nesting material. Anyway they're still in the shed but the sheets keep them off my equiptment and that's all I care about. Good luck with what ever you end up using.

For what it is worth we have started using the battery powered ultra sonic repellents and have had no problems since starting to use them. I will say that I firmly believe they will repel mice/rats but if they are already there it takes longer and trapping them to get them out. Since we finally got rid of them I haven't had a mouse/rat in the trailer once we started using the repellants. Do I believe that there aren't any at all? Nope, but they sure aren't in any of the living areas or areas I can access to check for them.

Me too. And those traps are deployed outside the trailer, I'm not inviting them to an inside meal. A bucket trap makes a good tool if there are a lot of mice in the vicinity. A good cat, one that delights in the hunting of mice, is the best deterrent but if they get inside, it will a long hunting process to eliminate them because they will only exit to drink or eat. I have two hunters, here, and they will spend days looking at the last known departure point of an observed mouse. They are the best predators.

It all depends on the amount of mice in a given winter. If there are a lot, they are a problem, some years there are few and no problem. It is the same in the house, barn or TT.

Last year I sealed up all entry points with spray foam and still got mice but when I opened the camper this spring I noticed I forgot the slide down the little door on the flap for the shore power cord (and I had it plugged in all winter). This year I closed it and stuffed the cavity with dryer sheets. So far no mice this year (knock on wood). Those little buggers just ran up the cord and had nice entry point.

#1 answer. Although I don't park in a barn, our outside cat is always leaving his prey for us on the deck just outside the door. We get mice and moles.

I've seen folks say that all manner of things keep mice away. I once found a mouse nest made out of dryer sheets. Mothballs and all kinds of oils and extracts have never worked for me. I've never found anything that actually repels them.

I suppose you could claim that dryer sheets and such repel elephants and lions too since I've never heard of anyone having problems with either after placing dryer sheets and mothballs in their RV. :)

No, I use to have elephants and lions all over the inside of my trailer until I used dryer sheets....then no more....
