I dont see your reasoning in why you think the diesel engine has hit a brick wall. I personally think the drivetrain behind it is the hold up. It gets very expensive to hold high torque number reliably in such a small package. This is why I firmly believe the reason the lower horsepowered Ram actually was pretty close to the GM and Ford trucks that FLT put on the dyno. They all have to detune their trucks to hold them together in certain situations.
