..HEY, I'm "one of the guys" too....getting in before the lock just, "because".:B
You know we get bad reports on all kinds of things on these forums, just about any truck will get "pro's" can "con's", then there is the beloved tire threads (not treads:))...1/2 ton versus 3/4 ton, versus 1 ton SRW versus 1 ton DRW trucks, which rv is best, (TT, 5er, fill in the blank)
Bad reports on different 5er's, ie, just recently a thread on HR products and how lousy they are, but I've had mine 6 yrs now and replaced a front landing gear only to find out, due to not knowing something about the landing gear, it was probably "ME" that caused the failure....the terrible G624 tire failures, I had one, but also had a very weak spring pack over that tire which caused tire to rub against the wheel well of the 5er, (peeled the tread off)....(both failures really "on me"? Other than that, the terrible HR product has been great for the wife and I...if I went by what I read, I'd never bought it or the truck towing it...or any Jeep I've ever owned...go figure.
Most in here are intelligent enough to glean from all the good reports and all the bad reports and make up their own mind about the product being discussed....
As far as Ford trucks go, I will admit, I have TRIED to trade for an F250 diesel at one time and several times have actually tried to cut deals on their 1 ton dually's, BUT, my money isn't green enough :).....can't seem to buy one even when I truly tried....Chevy and Dodge like my money, thus the reason I've owned SOOO many Chevy's and now the Dodge/Ram truck....
To each his own, I'm not brand loyal, I look at the truck, inside and out, (do like a good looking truck), and do the research, even visit some forums to see what OWNERS think of their truck, weigh that into the formula and buy the best "bang for my buck" "ANYTHING". I'm not a cheapskate, just like to get he best value for my dollar.
I like to read the good and bad of all we discuss on this forum....I use it if applicable and make my own decisions and hope they "pan out".
ricatic, don't blame you one bit....if I had to pay $13,000 to fix a truck with only 99,000 miles on it, and it wasn't anything I did...heck, even if it was something I did, I'd try to get some help...that kind of money would really hurt the purse strings and would affect my though processes on what truck I would purchase next...it is what it is...
