New stereo needed- options?

No one really has fully answered your question so I will take a stab at it..

Most if not all "indash" car stereos which FEATURE a DVD player built in tend to have a TOUCH SCREEN. This screen tends to be MOTORIZED.

So, the touch screen and motorizing of the screen tends to ADD a lot of cost into one of these units, hence the near $300 price tags you are finding...

Crutchfield while they are a great "resource" for information and packaging the product with all dash and wiring adapters tends to make them a lot more expensive to buy from..

Well, you CAN find car stereos with DVD for about $200 when you look at the right places but do consider this.. If installing in a vehicle you will need to consider the costs of face and wiring adapters..

But since this is a RV (assuming the living space) you don't need any adapters..

Now you also mentioned Blue Ray would be "nice", I am not aware of a indash car stereo with AM/FM AND blue Ray (that's not to say that there is no such critter but I could not find any during my searches).

I DID find a 12V Blue Ray PLAYER ONLY (No AM/FM) which can be mounted in dash if you wanted to..

I just took the stereo out used the space for storage and bought a radio / cd player from a discount store that has the ability to plug in other things. Around here all the radio channels are owned by big mega corporations and they are broadcast from a central location (I know not where) and their all playing the same lame country song over, and over, again at the same times everyday. There isn't even anybody in the radio stations anymore. There just empty buildings with equipment in them. I gave up on radio.

My stereo quit over a year ago. I looked at several options. My unit was the Linear Series unit with analog tuning and a tape deck. The quality was not that great.

I replaced it with a auto type made by JVC. It has a CD player and an aux input that can be used for anything but I feed my TV into it. The sound quality is much better. The size was different, but I finished a piece of wood to fill in the void. It actually looks nice.

I do not watch TV much while camping, but if I wanted to do that I think I would buy a DVD player from Walmart, but you can get a auto until with a DVD player.

x2. We're using the factory installed Jensen for now. But I'm not expecting it to last very long. Once it dies, I'll do this. Woot.com often has factory refurbed Bluray players for $40.

Took the all in one unit and tossed it. Bought a in dash radio with a undermount case, and then ought a 12 V TV with a built in DVD player. Perfect and it all runs on 12v for dry camping. Its just a 19 inch screen but they making them a lot bigger now. Just google 12V TV and there are lots out there.

I have a similar problem. AM FM CD in the TT finally failed. It was a large unit simulating the appearance of a household unit. Took it out and ordered an automotive AM FM Aux input unit for $30 and single DIN mounting box for $11. We never used the CD and it wasnt in the right place to have DVD viewing. Bonus is that there was a lot of wasted space behind the factory unit, so it can be opened up as a storage cubby hole. We rarely are in places with radio reception, the auto unit runs on 12v and we have a place to plug in music from our phones.

Go to a big online retailer like Crutchfield.com and search around. Lots of choices and helpful people.

I like this Pioneer with DVD, stereo, and bluetooth streaming with controls by the campfire.

as a forest river camper it was probably a Concertone...piece of rap. I for one have found Jensen to be good equipment and never a problem. If it was a concertone with a mounting hole of about 8 by 10 then the Jensen will fit right in place and much better then the original.
