Insurance can be weird with campers. I had to buy extra to cover our TT when it is NOT hooked up to the truck. When you talk to your insurance agent, make sure you specify that you want coverage for when it is not hooked up.
I have dropped my insurance now, as our TT is 11 years old - I figure at this point, if any damage is that bad, we'll probably be looking at a new one anyways!
I don't know about bad hail, but friends have a Jayco with aluminum siding and I kinda prefer it over our Forest River with fiberglass.
Also, I don't know about the trailers you are looking at, but I would definitely prefer a curved roof!! Our roof is flat, and water pools on top of it regularly - no leaks due to that, but I would prefer if it ran off quicker.
