Well, I'm a Ram owner and am impressed with the new numbers on them (2019's) like a 12500 tow rating and 2300 lb capacity and the new technology like etorque. Check out the reviews online. You said Laredo but I think you meant Laramie?? Unless you like all the bells and whistles, I'd order what you want (get a "Limited" with the big screen infocenter) in a lower trim level and save some bucks and get the tires/wheels you want. They go from 17's (I have E rated KO2's on mine.) to 20's And consider moving to the 2500 with the cummins if you are liking diesel or the 6.2 Hemi.
If you do not want all the Laramie bells and whistles you could likely be in the same ballpark on pricing with either a custom ordered 1500 or a little less custom 2500. Be sure on whatever you get if a Ram, you get a limited slip differential and a 3.92 on a 1500, doesn't matter on a 2500 as it will come with what you need I'm thinking. AND if you are ONLY talking about the weights of trailers you describe, a 1500 will do you fine. AND the 2018's and 2019's are completely different animals today on the Ram 1500's. Oh and just give up on the mileage thing. You are buying a truck and the mpg distinctions towing will be minimal.
