It's automobiles also. The cost of all will likely continue to drastically increase. One of the primary culprits is the latest CAFE standards which require mpg goals that are very aggressive.
EPA was warned by auto manufacturers that although CAFE stds were achievable, prices would soar. The driver of the latest set of CAFE stds was the so-called endangerment finding where EPA concluded CO2 emissions were a danger to human health and the environment. Moral: for every action there is reaction. Hence: as auto makers push the technology edge, prices soar as predicted.
Some even predict that we will look like Cuba driving in reconstituted jalopies as prices for new vehicles escalate to the point where the middle class can no longer afford them.
It is amazing that these truck prices now rival the cost of a brand new Class A motor home!
