I'm wondering why you got such horrible mileage from your 6.4. When I had mine, I was hauling more weight, dry, than you and averaged 8.5 to over 9 mpg with trailer, 15 without. Are you barreling down the road at 75mph?
You might try a Hypertech E-Con. I used one for a couple years without any problems. Provided better power. Could be a much cheaper alternative to a whole new truck.
And my 6.7 (like in the 450) averaged 10.7 mpg from Michigan to Montana mountains and back. Some days I averaged over 12mpg. Unloaded I average around 20 mpg on the highway (at 70 mph).
