New vent fan??

Currently in my TT I have one of those 3-4" fans in the vent in my bathroom. I would like to upgrade it to a full sized fantastic fan or create a breeze style vent. Do they make one of those that I can insert into the vent that is currently there so I don't have to replace all the vent set up on the roof and have to re-seal it? If so could you provide me some links to sites that offer what I am looking for? Thanks.

I would like to tell you this one thing. If you are going to put in a fantastic fan in the bathroom, one thing to know is when you have the fan going while you are going, and you flush , you will draw odors from the black tank into the TT. so turn off the fan, flush, then turn the fan back on.

yep, you don't make that mistake twice. fun for unsuspecting guests however.

  • I have the single stage Heng's fan in our bathroom and what a differance. Price is right install was 1/2 hour and works great.

Some find it a bit loud but in the bathroom I think a little noise is ok.
  • I liked the drop-in ease of installation with the Heng's Vortex fan, but the multi-speed version (Vortex II) has some reliability issues. I dealt with those and posted in the Tech Forum: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/27844279.cfm
It was a really simple fix, but one you need to do before installation. The single-speed Vortex does not have these issues. You could also incorporate the Pulse-width Modulation (PWM) controller idea posted there, but that's not for everyone.

Hengs makes two versions, one is exhaust only, the other is exhust/intake and three speeds.

It's next up on my list of never ending stuff to do.

that looks like the one I saw posted earlier. AFAIK it just mounts on the inside of your present vent opening.

yes, somebody recently posted a link to one.
I mounted a maxxaire one over my bathroom vent, mounted on outside with 4 aluminum L brackets, just removed blade from old whirr and buzz and left motor intact. mounted controls on inside frame. In either case, you would not have to remove old cover, etc. and worry about recaulking, etc.

  • I replace the fan in the main area of my 5th whl. You know the area you can't reach. Put in the Maxi with the remote. It's the best improvement I could have done. It's not a big deal to reseal the roof if you get the proper sealant.
