Yes, I really, really like the 19.5 set-up (Vision and Michelin) the truck is defiantely more surefooted and feels safer than the OEM set-up. The wheels & tires are heavier, and I notice them on take-off and landing. With the TC off, I have to air down, but even if I don't, they're not that bad, not as bad as I thought they might be.
Rolling down the hyway, the truck just glides along, almost effortlessly. Around town, I feel like I'm in charge, the truck moves like one of the big boys, demanding its space. Okay, I'm getting carried away a little, but it does feel great, with and without the TC on!
I'm jealous I called around and I was told that Chevy / GM trucks should not have the 19.5's put on. They told me with the independent front suspension, and the components that make it a "softer" ride, with those tires I would be running through replacing front end parts. Kind of discerning as I was hoping to get something more than load range E tires of my truck eventually.
Hey Jason,
How's it going with your TC. Hope things are on track. The Visions are wonderful! I know someone who installed the same set-up as mine on his Chevy 2500 crew cab diesel, and he said all he had to do was to shim the front torsion bar, and then a front end alignment, which was an easy thing to do. Keep your chin up, it'll all come together for you, and then you'll be lovin' and livin' life even more!!
The repair shop has my camper patched while they are waiting on parts. But, I'm just waiting for the graduation / birthdays that seem to keep landing on the weekends stop so we can get out and play! I talked to one shop and he was explaining that if I can find the 19.5's with a tire that stays in the same height of the stock tires I would be fine. I'm not sure if I can find that as it looks like they really fill in the tire wheel wells on most of the trucks.
They were telling me the problem with them isn't needing a lift, it's the actual opening size of the tire wheel wells. They actually end up rubbing really bad, and unless a "shorter" lower profile tire has come out for the new body style chevies they haven't seen it yet. I'll keep looking, I really like the heavy hauler rim now I just need to find tires that can keep the same overall dimensions as my current setup!
