I went with the 245's because the 225's did not offer that much more weight capacity than the 275's. I also wanted better flotation in sand and knew that the tire height was not an issue for my gearing, so the 245's won out.
I would have preferred a more wider tire about 33" tall, but those sizes were not common and I do not want to get stuck somewhere with specialty tire or rim that has to be ordered.
The PD890's do excellent in snow, but my Michelin LTX's did better in loose sand due to their wider footprint. Both do well on the road, but the PD890 makes more road noise than the LTX. Handling with loads goes to the PD890 and without to the LTX.
