MY question to the OP would be how much are you going to use it?
In my case, I plan on using it once a year for 2-3 months, 12-15,000 miles, rest of the time it will sit in a RV park. I have 4 vehicles now, I don't even want the pick up stored at the house.
My first go to for information is a lifelong friend that manages a billion dollar fleet of equipment. Including 400 diesel pick ups alone. They trade them at 350k. So I see me buying a 150-200k 4-6 years old truck for about 1/3 of new...
That said; This is my first RV, first time I'm even trying it. While I think I have everything covered (or figured out), we'll see how I feel in October after the first trip is over. I may want newer, bigger, smaller, a Class A and pull a trailer. Hell, I may go back to staying in hotels... I don't know, but if I did nail it right first time, I would consider a new (or newer) everything. After almost 40 years in the used equipment business I only buy new when I can't get what I want used. The internet has made finding what you want used a lot easier, but sometimes ya just gotta have that brand new, untouched, unmolested sweet smelling brandy new one. Some things, like a motorcycle, I'll buy new every 3 years, but $6 or 7k chump change. In a boat that I ran every weekend, I could justify new and keep 5 years, sell while engines had a year left on the warranty, if I camped every other weekend, I could see new....
Was in the Chevy Truck display at Daytona Bike week Tuesday, the new 2500HD is sweet, but the 08-09 version will work just fine.. However, if I have a really good month, I could see me trading my daily driver, a perfect 12 Tahoe on the newest version super sweet, be nice to get the newest body style as soon as it comes out...
Exceptions to every rule, especially when you make the rule ;)
