I also looked up the Tundra specifications and found this:
Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) = 16000 lbs
Max Towing Capacity 9000 lbs
So the weight of the truck (7200lbs) plus the GVWR of the trailer 8800lbs (which equals 16000lbs) must be lower than the GCWR? Or do I add the dry weight of the trailer (6800lbs) instead of the GVWR?
tent camping is so much simpler. just sayin
Don't pay any attention to those gross weight ratings, right now. What is going to be the definitive number is the one off that yellow door frame sticker, "Total weight of cargo and passengers....", this is your payload weight rating. I'm guessing the Tundra you're looking at has a payload rating of about 1500 lbs..Assuming a fully loaded for camping trailer like the Winnebago would be about 8000 lbs. That will translate to a hitch weight of 1040 lbs. Add the weight of a weight distributing hitch and you will have 1120 lbs. to be subtracted from your payload rating. Assuming the 1500lbs available payload, you're left with 380 lbs. Does the driver, all the passengers, and everything you plan to load in the truck fall below 380 lbs?
