Newbie here - Is R-Pod a good choice?

Never owned a Travel Trailer but wifey and I are looking to purchase
one. Just the two of us and our dog.
Don't know much but do like the R-Pod 180 - has a dry bathroom.
Pulling with a V8 SUV - max Tow capacity of 6,000 lbs.
Already installed the hitch and wired in a Prodigy Brake Controller.

What do you think about the R-Pod?
Can you recommend something similar?
  • For weekend use (and maybe an occasional week trip), they will work fine.

I would cost compare with similar size standard trailers. I suspect, you will get more for your money (don't count on drastic fuel economy benefits because of the oval shape). But if you like them go for it.

As others have hinted around at, pretend to do your normal activities and see if there are issues:
    - Lay on the bed together.
    - Sit on the toilet
    - Pretend to get stuff out of the fridge and packing the fridge.
    - Etc...

They are cramped with very little storage. And, in my opinion, overpriced for what you get.

Take a look at trailers from other makers, including Lance. There are several trailers out there within your towing capacity. Good luck with your search!
  • We were all set to buy a 179, until I lay down on the bed, which was not long enough for my 6' 2" frame. If you are tall, check the length of the bed. They are made in our town, so we see a lot of them.
  • Interesting little trailers. The main drawback for us is the tiny refrigerator.
    Don't forget tow mirrors.
  • My friend has a 179 with a slide out. He likes it a lot the only bad thing that I heard him talk about was don't fill the water tank when traveling because it puts to much tongue weight on the hitch. And he had to weld the rear bumper so the bike rack was more stable.
