Newbie here, advice on tow rig?
To preface, sorry for the long first post. I've read about 50 pages of the diesel vs gas thread and it's exhausting, so I thought I'd start my own in hopes of getting some realistic non-biased advice....

The 8.1 truck seems hard to find with reasonable mileage at a reasonable price, and the only ones in my area that have popped up are asking almost diesel prices ($20,000 for a 2006 8.1 w/ 77k miles for example).
Almost diesel price?
I just switched from gas to diesel and found a really clean new to me 2008 Dodge/Cummins. At least in my area (OHIO) you can't touch a used diesel in decent shape for under $30k in my opinion. Diesel trucks in that year range were all well over 100k miles and they were still valued at $25k++ The others I found were beat up, modified work or play trucks. Good luck with your search. I can tell you where a really clean 2004 Avalanche 2500 is sitting on a lot for sale that some shmuck traded in. :B
