At the 9,000lbs mark, I'm coming close to max towing capacity for most 3/4 ton at 10,000lbs right? A half ton is out of the question. That leaves big block and diesel. Am I missing something? *edit: I guess 3.73 vs 4.10 make much more of a difference in a 2500hd with the 6.0, at least for the newer models, 9,900 vs 13,000 max towing capacity.
So at 9,000lbs, is a diesel just overkill?
The truck's primary use is going to be for towing the toy hauler. Sure I'll drive it, and throw the family in it every now and again just to put some miles on it and give the family suv a break.
So if I go diesel is there a concern for letting the truck sit a week at a time? I've never had an issue with a gasser regarding down time and short trips. If a diesel isn't going to fit the intended use, I'll avoid them all together. I've just never had the pleasure of owning one, and don't want to make an expensive mistake.
