Newbie here, advice on tow rig?
To preface, sorry for the long first post. I've read about 50 pages of the diesel vs gas thread and it's exhausting, so I thought I'd start my own in hopes of getting some realistic non-biased advice....

You are selling yourself short by only considering an 8.1L gasser. They are few and far between having been out of production for several years in a PU truck. Another option would be a Ford F-250/350 with the 6.8L V-10 (last produced for PU's in 2010) which is a proven power plant, very reliable and makes exact same power as the 8.1L. Also todays new V-8's of all 3 makers are making nearly the same power and have better transmissions which allow them to easily pull as much or more weight.
