Newbie Q
100% new to the travel trailer scene so please bare with me.
I own a 2015 Dodge Durango V6 AWD. It is rated to tow 6100 with the distribution hitch. Tomorrow I am going to purchase a Flagstaff 23LB, dry weight around 3700 lbs and under the hitch weight. I've done all the math and this is about 1000 lbs under my limit with people and luggage accounted for.
My question, does anyone or know anyone that tows with a V6 Durango newer than 2014 with the factory tow package? I ask newer than 2014 because I believe that is the year they started using the 8 speed automatic like mine.
We are planning a trip from St Louis to Boise so the rockies are a huge concern. Around St Louis I think we will be okay. For the big trip I will drain all the water and if I have to rent a small car for the family to make the pass.
Any advice?
