I have a 2011 F-150 4x4 with the towing package. The yellow sticker on the door says 1411 lbs. max cargo.
Take a second look at the the specific vehicle you are going to buy. Some of the option packages really eat into the cargo capacity.
It is easy to say I will just buy an F-350 but you have to drive, feed and maintain the beast.
When we are not towing, my DW thinks our F-150 rides like a buck board wagon on an old western trail and it is hard to park.
If you tow a lot of miles, bigger is better; if you drive a lot, tow a little, maybe not. You do however need the horses to pull the load, so as mentioned decide on the TT and it will dictate the TV.
