The seller is not going to let you load it up and take it to a scale without payment in full.
Actually, a bunch of sellers will do this.
When I was looking at used trucks a few years back, I told them before I could even begin talking money, I had to go tow my trailer for forty miles first. Drove two, bought the second one.
Purchased a trailer, but had to tow it first to make sure it handled properly behind the tow rig.
Before I purchased my current camper, over the phone told the seller I would probably want to weigh it before closing the deal. He said no problem, he would just need to ride with me. Ended up not having to, but he only found that out when we he asked if I was ready to take it to the scale.
Never been turned down or had much of a hesitation on a reasonable request like these.
