Twodownzero - the 1500HD has the same running gear, springs, tires, transmission, etc of a 2500 of the same year. By no means is the 1500HD a "glorified" 1/2 ton. Lots of folks have no idea why it was called a 1500HD instead of a 2500.
The 1500HD should be no more over the GVWR than the older Ram 3500 SRW is with the 815. I had a 2004.5 Dodge with my 815 so I know.
