So far we have been able to operate under the "no poop" rule with our cassette toilet - even with camping with the grandkids. Of course we haven't have any "extended" trips yet. I have such fond memories of my dad dumping the tanks, cussing and saying "this is the father's job" and "stay in the car!".
Back to the original topic. The lack of sound proofing on our pop up was one of the reasons for the move to hard side. In both directions. We didn't want others to hear us any more than we wanted to hear them. The "cold" aspect...we had a furnace in it that would run you out! If we had hook ups, I just ran a small electric heater. Last fall when attending the TN truck camper rally, I used Reflectex (is that what it is called? the silver coated insulation stuff) around the bed area to keep some heat in. That was November in the Smokeys and I was toasty.
That being said. I loved our pop up for what it was. A test to see if we wanted to invest more heavily into camping. We learned what was important for us to have in the next one.
Do your research and go for it!!! Life is good!
