There's no reason you can't go hardside. I think you will be happier having the shower and a real RV toilet.
What they don't tell you about cassette toilets is, what comes OUT when you empty them! Sure you can dump them in a toilet, if you can keep your lunch down while doing it. Mine had 2X the prescribed amount of chemical in it, and there was no sign of any "blue water" smell. It just smelled like... Just thinking about it makes me throw up a little in my mouth.
Sound insulation is pretty much nonexistent with a popup. You have to be extremely tolerant and a sound sleeper.
I can't help but see cousin' Eddy emptying his chemical toilet into Clark's sewer LOL:D. As for being extremely tolerant and a sound sleeper, I am neither unfortunately. Sheesh, this is becoming much more difficult than I anticipated. I know that a hard side will be more up my alley; I just don't want to get too close to those axle/tire ratings. I always like to give myself a cushion in everything I do. For those here who are over GWVR, how close are you to reaching axle/tire limits?
I found an immaculate '05 Travel Lite Mountain Star 890R with everything. Tag weight says 1760 lbs. Sooo, it's probably actually ~2200 lbs.? The only thing is it is 8'9". Contacted the manufacturer, and they stated the center of gravity is 38". A quick measurement from the front of the bed to the center of my axle is about 39"-40". Thought about going to look at it IF he agrees we can weigh it. Isn't this process fun?:R
FYI most campgrounds that I stay at have the option of sewer hook-up AT the site, so there would be no standing in line the majority of the time.
