Newby has a wiring question

It all worked out great The battery charges while running truck. I just got home from a 6000 mile 13 state trip. everything cooperated except for the weather coming across Montana I bonded with my 2000 F250 and love the 7.3L manual transmission combo. The truck even has earned a name MAX not too origional but I always name my vehicles after dogs I have owned.

OK I started this thread I should update it. upon doing further checking I find that the camper battery only gets charged when plugged into 110VAC. The old battery was shot and I have no room for 2 batterys, I installed one 120AH AGM battrey. I wanted to be able to charge it with the truck Alternator.
I wired a 40Amp fuse with 6 guage wire to an anderson plug which goes to a charge relay then to the battery. I am a sailor and had much of this left over from a boat refit. The anderson plug I got on Ebay a bit of overkill as it is good for 100 amps they are quality high amperage connectors

No picture of Charge relay. It is a m-ACR from blue sea systems it monitors the voltage and closes at 13.5 volts ie: when the truck is running and charging

Or the Torklift 3 way harness. Plugs into your hitch then splits with one plug for your camper and the other for the trailer

These connections only power up your truck camper or pull trailer safety lights and brake controller if equipped. Some may have a low current 12VDC coming from the truck start battery at these connectors as well. The 12VDC items in the truck camper are powered by its installed 12VDC BATTERY or Inverter for 120VAC items. Shore power connections provides 120VAC to operate the 120VAC items in the truck camper as well as the converter/charger to operate the 12VDC items in the camper as well as charge the camper battery.

This is kinda neat where the 7-way side would feed your Truck Camper safety lights and then your small tow trailer would plug into the other trailer 4-way or 5-way connector.

Don't know how small your tow trailer is but if it has electric brakes mounted on the hubs it will require by DOT a BRAKE CONTROLLER hookup.

Might want to check with your local safety inspection station to get a reading on what will be needed...

ETRAILER is one of the best places to get things like this on-line. They have everything trailer....

Your Truck camper may have some overhang and might require a short extension 4-way/5-way cable for the second trailer connection.

The only problem with the pictured ones that are right next to one another with the flip open covers is if you need to use both of them at the same time you are out of luck. If you lift the flap for either one it makes the other one not useable as you can't open both covers at the same time. I know I had those types on both my 2011 Ford and my 2013 Ram. Really sucked till I added my 7 pin in the bed of the truck for the camper. I needed to pull my boat at the same time as hauling my camper.

It look like you have a four pin round to the right of the 7 pin. Worth findingbout what that one is for.

You said 5-pin on the trailer? Does it have back up or interior light?On the ford 4-pin you might want to verify fit.

I have nothing that will plug into it-its backwards as far as male/female housing & pins & I have a few different 4 pin flats. One on right is the ford, I tapped the back side and added 'standard 4 pin, on the left to it.

Added a round 4 pin with short pigtail that plugs into the std 4 pin.

I might suggest swapping the trailer plug to 7 pin plug and use bumper (also give room to add). Add 7 pin receptacle in bed for the camper changing it also to 7 pin. With what you have you'd only need 1 matched pair. Id be tempted to rerun a cord from camper if accessible-looks like a lot of tape?

I dont have brakes on the trailer it is a 6x10 box trailer
