It's a trade-off between under the hood and on the frame. Under the hood is tight enough already, subject to engine vibrations. Under the truck has risks of road debris kicked up and punching a hole in one of the filters.
Under the truck looked easier of the two to install.

I also agree on the filter location. I will also point out that the under hood mounting may not be possible, depending on the year of the truck. I do not remember the particulars. I do recall there frequently drama with leaks on at least some of the under hood installs. If I were interested in under hood filtration, I would research this more.
It is my intent to put sleeves on the filters mounted under the truck. Mostly to help deflect small rocks. Probably overkill.
