Any Dodge Ram CTD owners change their own water/fuel separator filters on their newer trucks? I used to change my 2006 every 5,000 miles. I know ..little frequent but hey. Only cost 15 bucks and 15 mi...

Refer to the MANUAL, easy as that.
I do caution folks here that do their own maintenance....ONLY a dealer can check the status of updates on your on-board computer systems. I've spoken to my brother who is a mechanic for Honda, my RAM mechanic a staff mechanic at a College as well as a Faculty member teaching the subject.
All of them said that with the advancement of technology on all the newer vehicles the service related to those computer advancements are more and more ONLY available at the Dealer.
So go ahead and change your oil and filters, but I would drop into a dealer at least once a year for a software check up.
