That does sound like a deal. For conversation, if we use the "average" shoppers negotiation abilities, I feel the price difference would be $10-12k on average. For my wallet, that's not a negligible amount.
Also, for 7500lbs, the diesel is a want more than a need. I know that because that's what I pull, and I wouldn't accelerate or cruise any faster if I were towing with a tractor trailer.
Not debating the difference in abilities, but the need.
I did work pretty hard at it but at the end of the day I simply took the advertised bottom line from Dennis Dillon because I couldn't come close to beating it anywhere else, so anybody could have gotten the same deal I did.
As far as ability vs need, I agree completely. I could have made a properly equipped F150 work, just as I could have made a 6.4 Hemi work (for less than the F150 if you can believe that). But at the end of the day I simply didn't want to settle for less. Now if I was into gadgets or my wife insisted on a high trim level truck, I may have stuck with the F150 cause those diesels get into nosebleed territory awfully quick when you start adding options. Although I guess the half tons do too these days. Truck prices are ridiculous, new or used.
Edit - FWIW, to me the F150 Ecoboosts are clearly the best half tons out there these days, so I'm not trying to put down your truck at all. Had I went half ton, it would have been an Eco.
