I am convinced I experienced the "death wobble". After some research, I discovered Ford has acknowledged the problem in a TSB (they call it steering oscillation) and some part kit should fix the issue. I'm making a call to the dealer to get it looked at.

Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
