Ben and anyone else that thinks this is just an American thing, why do you think the imports moved their plants to the US? It's not because they want to "help the US worker" it's because in their Countries they can not receive the same pay that their American counter parts do. By moving their operations to the USA they too can and DO get the same pay and bonuses that once was the envy of the rest of the Worlds COE's.
When Damn-Lire got their hands on Chrysler one of the first things they did was rape and pillage us, then they gave themselves BIG FAT RAISES. In 2007 when we should have been giving concessions or at least not asking for raises we did the opposite. Sales were tanking, but the boys at the top in Auburn Hills were receiving obscene pay raises and bonuses every quarter. Note these were the Damn-Lire boys pulling in the cash, you know, the Germans.
So the UAW asked for and received a not only raises but increases in our benefits! How, they told Management if the contract was not approved they would print in the news papers the fact the the top 13 managers at Damn-Lier/Chrysler made more money then the rest of the people in the Corporation combined! So that kind of blows the "it's a US problem" in the water don't you think Ben? BTW I and others in the union thought it was very short sighted of the UAW.
Same was happening at Honda, Toyota and Nissan. None of the Japanese COE's in Japan receive bonuses and huge salaries until they started building their cars and trucks here and started receiving salaries here in the good ole USA away from the prying eyes of the Mother Country.
OK "Now back the the topic"

You’ve been drinking the UAW Kool-Aid a little. Next thing you tell us is that universal health care will make us more competitive. That was another UAW anthem.
