The tires came filled with Nitrogen when we bought the car new three months before leaving on our trip. We parked the car on carpet squares as to not "flat spot" the tires. Much to my surprise the tires needed no air upon our return.
I credit that to Nitrogen filled tires.
Of course they didn't need "air".
