- d3500ramExplorer IIIWith a complete camper behind, why the need for a sleeper?

- Kayteg1Explorer IIAren't semi's axle rated in the range of 20,000lb ?
Sure no problem with 6000 lb camper.
Aesthetic with camper have been mentioned before - in stable loads topic for example.
You want aesthetic in RV - you buy DP with zebra paint scheme on it.
I still think the above set is prettier than some new cars you seen on the roads.
Or famous Pontiac Aztek for example.
- WikelExplorerHave no idea what that camper weighs but it's on a truck rear body, frame, axle, tires and rims. Just because you have some semi truck pulling it doesn't mean that there is not a weight concern. Not enough information for sure and IMO it looks like a Frankenstein setup. Aesthetic = zero... looks like a hack job for sure.
I don't think you could say there is a power problem for sure but everything else, sheesh that looks pretty sketchy. - finsruskwExplorerSide Car, I used to run across them a lot up on US 6 in Indiana back in the day. There was a lumber Co out of Wooster, OH I believe it was, had a fleet of them all different colors but w/the same stripe scheme. That has got to be the ultimate hood IMHO. Plenty of room for just about whatever horse you wanted to hide under there!!
I toyed w/the idea of building a late model roll over into a road rig using a Big Horn cut-off but better sense got in the way!! Doing that, you could work it, not have to worry too much about the DOT and still get it serviced anywhere.
Would be a great setup for a hobby trucker. - tattoobobExplorerThanks for the link, maybe next year
- tattoobobExplorerWait there was Northeast truck camping jamboree in New Hampshire last weekend?
I would have liked to know that oh well I stayed home and closed the pool - SidecarFlipExplorer III

The Lance is so-so. The Pete is real nice. Now if it was a 60's Needle Nose...that would be so cool.
Naahh, Needs to be a '74/'75 Dodge Big Norn!!! One of the approximately 252 built!
I happen to know someone who has one. It's actually in use hauling steel and it's been rebuilt numerous times and it's wicked looking, even today. - finsruskwExplorer

I looked at the photos tiny on my phone screen, thought it was a 359...that is a 379! I should know, I regularly drive both! That’s a better truck, more space between the seats, better hvac, usually more power.
You could have a Host triple slide and still tow a 40’ enclosed trailer or a large cabin cruiser. Or a diesel dually as a toad. All without even slowing it down!
Edit: read the article. 600hp Cat. No pickup has anything remotely close to fhe torque that makes. A new Ford 6.7 doesn’t make even half the torque, that 15.2 liter monster makes 2000 ft/lbs and can do it at full throttle under a load all day long. Pickups are a joke next to a C15 in a Pete.
The super singles will handle great, I’ve run them. In this application they’re still overkill.
The weight capacities listed in the article are higher than would be allowed in the US (you can’t go over 20,000 in any single axle) but it still has more than plenty.
The thing is awesome.
