I absolutely hate dealership service departments. GM had issues with fuel gauges acting wonky back in the 90's. You never knew how much fuel you had in the truck as the gauge would read whatever it felt like reading. I had a punk service writer tell me that the reason the fuel gauge would do that is from putting cold gas in the truck. I asked him if it told me somewhere in the manual not to drive in the winter, or should I be boiling my gas before dumping it in there.

Looks like it says it covers models 2015-2018. But again, my 2017 2500 hd was quiet, nothing like this. But this does describe exactly how my truck sounds. I'm guessing they are going to tell me it's normal, but I'll find out Monday.

Good Luck. The issue with the dealer is your chances are pretty good that the service writer and service manager are nimrods, and they'll assign it to some nose picker with an IQ of 61.7. He'll look it up, find that TSB, and expect that to be the end of it. I hope that doesnt happen.

That is unless you have access to some kind of super dooper dealer service dept. I used to have that until the local GMC dealer was absorbed by a mega dealer. The head mechanic was also the service manager, service writer, parts guy, sometimes salseman, and cashier. The guy knew his craft.

I have a long time friend in the transmission business who could tell you in about 30 seconds whats going on. Too bad you're not in western PA.

Tire pressure is good. I agree with Ralph, my previous trucks including the 17, made no noise in 4 hi. Couldn't hear a difference. Will be calling dealer today. Truck only has just under 5K miles.

On edit: Apt 7am Monday to have it looked at.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern

Some customers may comment on various noises associated with 4wd operation.

Recommendation/Instructions

One of the many advantages of the new 2015 MY pick-ups is the cabin is quieter compared to previous model years. For that reason, when the vehicle is in 4WD mode (HI or Low), there may be some noticeable sound from the transfer case. This sound may be described as a whining. This sound can be described as being a very broad band frequency.

With the vehicle in 4WD mode, this sound will be present on both acceleration (30-40 mph) and deceleration. The sound will increase when driving on dry pavement in 4WD. It can also be identified since it disappears or reduces considerably in 2WD mode.

Before beginning any diagnosis it is imperative to review the Symptoms - Transfer Case in SI and perform the necessary inspections. In all cases the complaint vehicle should be compared to another like vehicle before beginning any repairs.

This information applies to 2015 and 2016 model year vehicles listed above.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Check your tire pressures. If the rear is over inflated for the load, they will be bigger in diameter than the front, causing the drive line to bind, especially if on dry ground or pavement.
