Noisy WD bars

I am using the duel cam weight dist. bars. They are really noisy when turning. One person suggested vaseline to reduce noise. I know that grease or oil would be a bad idea but maybe vaseline would be OK

I wouldn't worry about the noise, it's more or less common and doesn't hurt anything. In fact you can consider it a good indicator that things are still there and working. You want noisy try the friction bar sway that is correctly adjusted for something that is noisy.

  • Normal. Either just accept it or use a little Vaseline, and nothing else.
  • Vaseline as Reese recommends works fine for me and is easily cleaned off with a rag.
  • Doe's it worry you? It's just the bar popping back down. Leave it alone. Grease the ends and the ball. Do check and see if it is hitting the bolts tho.
  • I use a little axle grease on the ends that go in to the hitch head.,very little so I can simply wipe it off when I get to my destination and really helps with the noise.
  • I've read many accounts where folks use Vaseline or white lithium grease. But no personal experience as I'm researching my first camper and tow vehicle at this time.

  • I never used any on ours, but a light coating of Vaseline is what Reece recommends.

We do grease the hitch ball and the bar ends that go into the hitch head with a regular grease...
