Remember how the Ford engineers (and others) were denying the extent of aluminum to be used in the new F150's.
They were saying would have more aluminum panels but said definitely not the main cab structure. They were already built, "all aluminum"
Don, hope you were not wearing your "Ram" cap when you were questioning this guy.. :B :B :B :B :B
Say what?
This was @ the 2013 Detroit Auto Show or NAIAS
Sure looks like the "main cab structure" to me!
Nope I was deep under cover, even had a Ford SVO hat on in the Ford area and a Bow-tie over at the Chevy area. :W
Don
Don, you are missing my point on this and with your picture of the GT.
What I said/meant was...
Prior to the intro of the aluminum cab (as you saw at show); there were rumours of it. BUT the Ford engineers were still denying it. :S
Prior to the intro of the GT a LOT of Ford engineers didn't even know about it as it was built at a kind of "skunk-works"
Point being.....
The engineers either don't know :?
------------OR-----------
Do know and lie to your face. :@
So you really can't take as fact something you heard at an auto show.
You follow me now Don :W
You may be right but I still believe there will be a boosted DI gas motor in Superduty eventually.
Usually, the more they deny, the higher the likelihood... :B - DadoffourgirlsExplorerI really think the engineer was correct on Ecoboost. That is because Ford trademarked Ecobeast. Therefore, the V8 could be named that, and the engineer is technically correct.
I am surprised that Don did not take and post the picture of the Nissan pickup bed with the fiver rails and goose neck. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerThe GT40 had a lot of interest, always a crowd around that display.
Dodge had a racing game where you sat in a Hellcat and there was a large screen in front of it. You raced around a track, was a hit with the crowds if you wanted to kill an hour or so waiting for your turn. - RobertRyanExplorer

Don you should of next asked him "what will replace the V10" ?
Didn't think about that, remember I'm not a Ford guy. ;)
I did ask if they were going to build a small diesel for the US market and he said ""he could not comment on that, only time will tell" with a grin on his face". Maybe the Ranger will be coming back? They have a 1.5 liter diesel for use everywhere but in the US and Canada.
Troy they can say if a rumor is false, the tell is when they make a comment like he did about a small diesel in the US market. May bad, I forgot to ask about our Canadian friends.
Don
Don, the default size is 3litres for a Pickup. Seems to be the same for Vans and Class C Motorhomes - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

Its on the internet, right here-right now, so its TRUE..
No V8 Ecoboost "ever"
Time will tell.
Don, who can you really trust and believe anyway? :S
2 weeks ago most engineers from Ford would have told you your crazy when you said you heard about a new GT40... :B (Cause they are on a need to know basis)

An 4.0 V8 Ecoboost would have a VERY high cool factor.
. . . If - and its still 'if'- the 5.0 gets boosted it will have 2 and direct injection ,why would it not?
It could also have a crank that de strokes it a bit, maybe 4.0?
What would you rather listen to at redline, a turbo V6, or a turbo V8?! - BenKExplorerTurtle is spot on and to me...confirms his other post that the small displacement
EcoBoost V6 when at full boost behaves like a +7L NA V8 and gets similarly POOR MPG
That folks do not understand forced fed...plus that when on high boost...the
ECU will squirt more fuel to cool the V6's innards/exhaust and that is NOT for more power
