Northern Lite 81 EX Dry bath, comments

Have been looking on line and reading up on the NL 811 EX dry bath. Would like to hear what those who have gotten think about the new 811.
Thanks

  • I saw that comment earlier.... maybe the poster should send a note to Northern Lite and ask them why?

  • There is an answer to this in the latest Truck Camper magazine review....I wont spoil it for you! ;)

I cannot understand Northern Lite for their silliness. If you look at the length of the bathroom and the dinette for the 8-11 they add together as 36 and 67 and together make 103 inches. If you compare the dry bath length 8-11 EX at 45 and the dinette at 67, they add together to make 112, so the floor length should be 113.

They do the same with the 10-2 and the 10-2 EX. Come on Northern Lite, there is enough deceiving in the length of trailers and fifth wheels. Call the dry bath models what they truly are: a 9-5 and an 11-1.

Having said that, the model that I would dearly love to see would be the 9-6EX because the 9-6 has a 74 inch dinette bed that is long enough to sleep an adult on, and if all remains the same it should be able to be carried by a one ton SRW and have a floor length of 120 inches, or ten feet.

I wish they would just call them what they really are and update their specs to name them properly.
  • Something to think about.... the headliner in these units looks nice but over time starts to break down and produce a lot of dust. I can see it when the escape hatch is open and sun shines in with the fantastic fan blowing in... the carpet dust running out the hatch like a parade.

All I can do is to vacuum the ceiling often. :B
  • Went for the tour a couple weeks ago at Northern Lite. They boys work to fast and our 8-11 EX drybath had already been finished being built and was sitting outside waiting to be shipped down to where we bought it from.
I asked about the lengths of the 8-11's and they said that the new 2018 8-11 EX dry bath is 4 inches longer that the wet bath models . Which puts the length at just over 9' long ( not including cab over section)
They are pumping out approx 38 units a month. All the parts are on shelves labeled for different size, colour and models of units.
A very interesting tour, for me.... wife was more interested in seeing the different interior coulurs.... when we got to where they store all the cushion and table / counter tops coverings.

  • We will be walking through the Northern Lite manufacturing facilities on Tuesday, lots to ask and see.
We bought a 2018 NL 8-11 with the dry bath. We also got the U shaped dinette. All that the Dry Bath has that I can see from the wet bath is the toilet is as you first walk in the door of the Camper. The door ( sliding door) to the bathroom opens in front of the toilet. The sink and shower are next to the toilet and have two different " tubs" that you stand in, one for the toilet side, other on the shower / sink side.
For the shower to be dry it is a flexible shower curtain rod that is " kinda" U shaped and because of hinges on the three piece curtain rod. So when you get in the shower space is made bigger by the shower curtain moving out towards the toilet, but hangs in the "tub" on the sink / shower side.
Dry Bath, in my opinion is a choice of words that I probably wouldn't use, but that's me.
The U shaped dinette was ordered so that we could sit at the table and put our legs/ feet up to relax instead of just sitting on a bench.
One of the perks of the U shaped dinette is the storage space under that extras bench against the wall ( approx 12 wide, 16 deep by 30 inches long " approx").
Will be interesting using the inside shower, we will most likely use the outside shower more often. I have a picture of our Dry Bath someplace of the one in ours, just don't know how to attach in this website. If you send me your email address in a private message I will send you some pictures of the inside of our 2018, NL 8-11
    Soup.

Not related to OP's question though.
