The nomenclature of F-150 or 2500 doesn't mean as much as it used to. The one huge plus not mentioned is the far superior ride quality of the 1 series vs. the 2 to 5 series trucks.

No you're not alone. I believe the F150 with the Max Payload package will do the job and be a good compromise.
However, I do not agree with your comment about the nomenclature. There are still HUGE differences between an F150, even with the MP package, and a Super Duty. For reasons discussed here thousands of times before.
