Northstar 850SC on 2015 Ford F-150 truck

The camper dry weight at 1700 is under the 2100 pound payload capacity, but wet and loaded weight with my kayaks and all would be about 2700 pounds. Getting the Ford maximum payload package for $3000 boosts the payload capacity to 2800 pounds. My question is, should I go with the factory installed maximum payload package, or have the Northstar dealer add Tmbren and other devices as needed to give me a safe ride?

  • Start out doing it right...not adding band-aids.
Go with a 3/4 or 1 ton truck.

Good luck and enjoy your new rig....and welcome to the Forum.
  • Would it be more cost effective to get a truck with a larger cargo capacity?
  • This is probably what you don't want to hear, but you should go with a Super Duty.

You should check to see what the maximum payload package adds, but for $3000 you can do a lot of modifications.
