I prefer paying tonnage on my pickup over a state income tax! ;)
I prefer the tonnage too. It follows me to other states, so I do not have to worry about being overwt generally speaking either. Very little cost overall per year. about $50 for my c2500, and 150 or so for my mdt at 26K. about $10 a ton, then at 12K there is another fee added, but the ton cost is the same.

It's got 250 miles on it now.. :) The computer is telling me it's avg is 16.5 mpg and it's still not at half a tank yet (the dealer actually filled the 36 gallon tank for me! :) )
The best the 97 ever got running empty and a total hwy run was 17 mpg. Commuting average with the 97 was in the 13-14 range with an occasional 15.
I know I've got to get some hand calculated figures and I will, and when it's 'broken in', it should get even better! I sure hope so.. :)

Then again, the OP will probably have an 8K license, he will be legal to 8K. UNLESS, 1.5 times his tare is over 8K lbs, then he will have a 10K plate, and be legal to 10k too.......
Sure glad we license our pickups as passenger cars in Idaho!!!! - jerem0621Explorer IIHey Mitch when you get a chance could you post mpg comparison numbers between the two trucks?
Thanks!
Jeremiah - MitchF150Explorer IIIThey are all within the last couple 3 years or so.. I think it had at least 200,000 on it for these ones.. ;)
Mitch - MFLNomad IIWow!! Mitch, if those pics are fairly recent, that is a great looking old truck, with a quarter of a million miles on it.
No wonder you kept it so long,

Mitch, I agree with the post above. You should have done a farewell post on your ol' F-150 with a few pics. I like to read high mileage old trucks stories.
I've got tons of pics with it camping and such.. Here are some of "Old Blue" that are my favorites..
I did say a private goodbye to the truck just before I got out of it for the last time at the dealer.. Told it that "you are a great truck and I hope your new owner treats you well and you give them as good a ride as you did for me."
Thanks everyone! :)

Mitch, it would be very interesting to see actual front and rear axle weight ready to tow, to see how one would fit the 1920 lbs of CC on it. Chris
