Is that the difference? I've never really paid too close attention, but I have always thought the GMC's were a little nicer. I thought the GMC line was more of a "work truck" than a "pretty truck". Weird. I will still never understand why they are two separate entities...

Agree with you100%. They use to come off the same assembly lines, but cosmetics were the only difference, everything else is the same. I think they ought to 1 truck and call it a GMC Chevy, or something to that effect.

GMC came about when GM dealers other than Chevy wanted to sell trucks, vans and suburbans. (Olds, Caddy, buick, Pontiac). So along came GMC with the same basic vehicle with different names.

When we looked for an 04.5 and when we looked at the 2015's, if you price identical vehicles from Chevy and GMC you'll find the prices are virtually identical. Now, GMC does not offer the basic WT like chevy does, and for a few years GMC had the Denali high end that Chevy didn't. Now Chevy has the high country.

There are some color options that don't cross as well. Basically, IMHO it boils down to which one has the colors and looks you like. For the 04.5 I went with Chevy. For our 2015 IMHO looks wise and the fact that the Denali had a charcoal interior option on the Denali and Chevy High country only had a tan I didn' like, It was GMC this time all the way.

In some cases GMC and Chevy have different names for exactly the same color. The color code is identical but the name is different.

But again, it really boils down to which one has the looks and colors you want. And then what deals you can get between the various dealers.
