While you are studying solar, you might want to replace most if not all of your lighting with LEDs. If you pay more than $12 per bulb replacement, you are paying too much. My preference is the flat LED boards. Cheaper than bulbs, and point the light downward.
We are in the process of replacing bulbs to all LED. I hate the thought of getting a generator. Our neighbor had an Onan and I thought it was annoying. He let it run a couple hours a day. He had an 1150 Arctic Fox.
We just want enough power to ensure that the jacks run when we need them. I didn't realize how in depth this will be to learn about solar. The folks we talked to just had them laying out in the sun and said it was easy and charged their batteries. They had 5ers.
