You probably should hear a Honda run. Onan has it's strong points, but quiet is not one of them.
I prefer not to comment on "The folks we talked to just had them laying out in the sun and said it was easy and charged their batteries." This is especially true if they got them from from a home/garden store for $100.
The key to the LEDs, in my opinion, is read the fine print. The most common are 12-volt. A higher quality will be from 9 to 30-volts. The 12-volt LEDs are OK for some applications, but not the best for inside the TC. You can buy 12-volt LEDs straight from China for $2 each.
