Mine is a 1975. If it uses any 12v to run on propane, it is so infinitesimal that I have never seen it affect the battery life in any way, shape or form. I believe the new fridges have a lot more "sophisticated" (aka, complex and power hungry) control systems that require a more substantial amount of 12v power.
Fridges don't use much current but they are on all day. I figure mine uses about 15 AH, maybe a little more, each day. Probably the biggest battery drain since I replaced all the incandescent bulbs with LEDs.
