Depending on how well the locking edges grab and the friction of any liner placed underneath, the whole floor should float (in a perfect world). I decided against an all-vinyl flooring since there have been problems with what's offered and those materials installed in RV's. I decided that a laminate better fit my use and purpose.
I hedged my bets by buying a less than top flight laminate (click lock), I think it cost about $1.00/ft. I figured that, if it failed in any way, the loss could be absorbed and, since I DIY everything, I could install something else. So far, it has held up well. Last week, it was -20f for a few days. Shortly after that, I also started up my propane heater for a day (mostly for experimentation). I don't have any gaps or large movement, the joints are all together.
