I know our local MR LUBE has pits as well. No hoist is used. They tech has a separate stairway entrance off to the side where they go down to access the underside of the vehicles. Call around, they must have some locally where you are. Any of the quick oil change places should have them. Normal garages would only have hoists most likely.
