Oil changes en-route with camper on truck?

In the old days we would call that a hand job and charge a bit extra. Actually had to use the creeper or just crawl under. Today there are plenty of fast lubes to drive over the pit. No lift needed as long as the headroom is good.

But honestly I would just top it off and keep going. Hiway miles are easy on the oil.

How many miles on current change, and what is your change interval?

Or wait till you get home and then have it done.

Or go to a Walmart or other parking lot and change the oil yourself.

Most dealers have high enough doors/ceilings to handle a truck camper and have lifts that can service trucks.

They do service on box and boom trucks that are the same height - You just need to find commercial service centers. My Les Schwab has larger bays for trucks like mine and my camper would fit. I prefer to remove the camper and not pay extra for an oversized vehicle or risk damage if they do not have the clearance. Many quick lube places have grease pits and 14' doors, but I don't trust their work.

I stopped at a dealership in TX with my Dodge Ram. They lifted the front end a little, tech crawled under and did the oil change. Did not take camper off truck.

Yah, one that works with Trucks as noted, it more of a ceiling height issue.. I just all ahead and ask and if not they usually know of someone that does...

Dealing with that and a 5500 presents it's own problems, but a 3500 should be ok...
just call them and if hard press, you should be able to off load either at the campsite or at the dealer and reload when done...

If you are willing to pay dealer prices, find one that services chassis cabs and has a fleet service program.

I have had ours done at regular oil changer places. They just need the ceiling height. Most oil changers use a pit under the floor vs. a lift so weight isn't an issue. Call ahead and make sure they have enough head clearance as well as the filter and whatever oil your specify.
