Finally about done with repainting the ole 86 K20.First time it's seen daylight in about 18 months.Got interior to finish re-assembling (new seat, dash, carpet) and all the trim n stuff left to doo. Mechanically it's ready to roll. Although I do want to re-pack the front bearings. God knows how long that's been...Hoping to get it road worthy before our boy's 16th Bday next month! It's "his" truck and he's put some good hours into it as well.

Looks great, I wish I had the skills to do something like this! Your boy is very fortunate to learn these skills from you! I'm willing to bet that your boy will take better care of that vehicle than most people take care of their generic cars.

We certainly could have spent much more time blocking everything out before paint. I really didn't guide coat much/any of the sheetmetal. With what little free time I/we have, it was "good enough" and I busted out the paint and turned it blue!

If you notice there's a little test piece of the pinstripe on the back corner. Already have the pinstripe kit and the mouldings ready to go.
Wanted to get the bed on first to make sure they line up.

Excellent... And I'm sure you and your son (two man job IMO) will install the pin stripping better than my 1987 Chevy truck that looked like a drunk installed it.

Nice to see a kid willing to learn and put the work in and dad that can show him how it's done! The kid across the street from me, think he just finished high school, put a 24V Cummins in an '05 F350, did about 95% of the wrench turning himself and did a beautiful job. Wonderful to see that there are still young gearheads in the world!

That's awesome, just remember that "full size" trucks of 10-15 years ago were not the behemoths of "full size" trucks today, or something like that, or 36 years ago even.

Unnecessarily big trucks at unnecessarily high prices, for the paint and other supplies. Just bought a qt of red, BC/CC, for a truck cap and about pooped my pants.

Which is why you can buy drop ball mounts. The trailer does not care how much lift the truck has.
