Well, I'm no tech genius, and we saw a few of this 'key-less fobs' when shopping an SUV recently.
We thought the engine shut off if the car doors locked, or if the key-less do-hickey got more than ten feet away. But we never even considered that it might not shut off.
My Ram has the key-less-do-hickey.
There are only two ways it will shut off.
1) you do it yourself.
or
2) leave it running, and it will run as long as there is fuel, no matter how far away the key fob is. BUT, should someone get into the vehicle
without the key fob being present, and try to put the vehicle from Park into gear, the vehicle shuts off.
During cold winter months up here in the north country, I leave mine running and locked, while I go into quick stops and other stores. Key fob is with me of course.
Onto topic at hand, these suits are really stupid. Yes, I can see the point where the sound of the engine is so quiet, folks don't realize the car is still running, but come on. You DON'T leave an engine running in an enclosed space.
Past technology you turned the key. So now just push the stupid button. Simplicity and common sense.
