Also in my Ram if you leave the truck with it running there is an warning that says over and over THE KEY FOB HAS LEFT THE VEHICLE along with a warning on the dash and a chime sounds. If the fob does not return in ten minutes the truck shuts down.
That programming is part of the claim... If Dodge and Ford can have this logic, why can't the others?
PS - When I was at Universal Studios last summer, I parked in front of a Dodge Journey. It was running, not key fob visible, no lights on the dash, doors locked. It was still running 9 hours later when we returned. The parking garage was loud enough you couldn't hear it, I only noticed when I felt the heat dumping out when I was standing next to it.
Anytime OEMs change things to make them different from what people are used to, there is the risk that some people won't notice, or may forget while they are rushed or otherwise pre-occupied.
What if one day the double doors at your office were switched, so the right side is "Pull" and left side is "push". Sounds silly but I've seen the exact swap happen. Even month later, people people still walk straight into the "pull" side of the door because its on the right!
