The DRW is a $1,295 option, and just about $1,000 for a 3500 SRW over a 2500 likely to cover springs and tires, badge, and the larger GVWR number on the VIN sticker. :B
This is a point/factor that many simply don't understand.
The difference in price between 2500 vs.3500 is negligible.
The difference between DRW and SRW is also very little.
Many buy/use an underrated truck because they believe they are cheaper.
In the end the cost difference between the various models is not significant.
It's the various option packages that inflate the price.
A dually does not cost much more than the same truck in a SRW
You're right that a dually doesn't cost much more than a similarly equipped SRW but I doubt if there are many people who purchase SRW trucks that would chose a dually at the same price. For those of us with lighter trailers about the only advantage the dually has to offer is the lower box height.... the disadvantages are much more significant.
